Property Tax Calendar
Important dates and deadlines for property owners, businesses, and tax professionals in Alameda County. All dates apply to the current fiscal year unless noted.

| February 15 | Exemption Filing Deadline — Last day to file Homeowners’ and Disabled Veterans’ Exemption claims for full exemption value. Late claims (through Dec 10) receive 80%. | Homeowners, Veterans |
| April 1 | Business Property Statements Due — Businesses must file Form 571-L reporting all taxable business personal property. | Business owners |
| April 10 | Second Installment Due — Second installment of property taxes due. Becomes delinquent after this date (penalties apply). | All property owners |
| May 7 | Business Property Penalty Date — 10% penalty applied to late-filed business property statements. | Business owners |
| July 1 | Fiscal Year Begins — New fiscal year for property tax purposes (July 1 through June 30). | All property owners |
| July 2 | Assessment Roll Delivered — Assessor delivers the annual assessment roll to the Auditor-Controller. | Assessor / Auditor |
| September 15 | Assessment Appeal Deadline — Last day to file a formal appeal of your assessed value with the Assessment Appeals Board for the current roll. | Property owners |
| November 1 | First Installment Due — First installment of property taxes due for the current fiscal year. | All property owners |
| December 10 | First Installment Delinquent — Penalty applies if first installment is not paid by this date. Also the last day for late exemption claims (80% value). | All property owners |
Important Notes
- If a deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, the due date is extended to the next business day.
- The fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30.
- Supplemental tax bills have their own separate due dates — check your supplemental bill for details.
- Property tax payments are made to the Treasurer-Tax Collector, not the Assessor.
