This constitutional amendment allows one of two forms of property tax relief for qualified contaminated property.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Property owners may choose from\u00a0<strong><em>either<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0of the following relief:<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Base Year Value Transfer<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Subject to certain conditions and limitations, contaminated property may be sold and its base year value transferred to a replacement property of &#8220;equal or lesser value&#8221;. Both the original property and the replacement property must be located in Alameda County. The replacement property must be acquired or newly constructed within five (5) years after the sale or transfer of the qualified contaminated property.
